Apple’s latest OS update — 10.5.5 — is now up and available for download from Software Update. It’s a big update and includes lots of changes. Usually Apple’s release notes border on monosyllabic grunts but this one is quite detailed. Scanning through them revealed these below that I’ve found interesting.

Looks like we don’t have to wait for the Apple media event next Tuesday to know the price of the new iPods. The media used to be able to get scoops like this before anyone else. It’s a totally different story now. Anyway, these prices are from machine’s homepage, so it should be reliable. [...]

Well the rumours were spot on this time. His Steve-ness just went on stage and woo-ed us with a “nearly” complete revamp of the iPod line. Let’s see what’s new.

Apple had confirm a special event on September 9th. The invites Apple send has the famous iPod silhouette graphic with the tag line ‘Let’s Rock’. I am going to take a wild guess that the event is going to be all about music and iPods.

Kevin Rose is breaking the news, more like yet another rumors. According to him, Apple plans to revamp the entire iPod line.
There will be small cosmetic changes to the Touch and Nano. On the Nano you get a long wide screen instead. There will price drops on iPods.
