Video Monkey
I had blogged about FFmpegX before for converting video to iPod playable format. While the geek side of me said it’s good enough, the snobbish Apple-Mac side of me told me the user interface isn’t up to the Mac standard.

Video Monkey while not the most beautiful application on Mac OSX, it feels more Mac-ish compared to FFmpegX.
Video Monkey is a free video encoding application exclusively for Mac. It was created after the demise of the great tool Visual Hub. Video Monkey borrows heavily from the Visual Hub video conversion tool, both conceptually and from the original code dump posted to SourceForge as TranscoderRedux.
You can now convert all you .avi videos that you got from the Internet into a format that’s playable on your iPod, iPod Touch or iPhone. We not going to discuss in detail on how one get such videos, lets just say you have those.
You can queue up video files to be converted. Start and pause anytime you want. Did I mention it’s free? Only works on Intel Mac though.
