Apple updates the Mac Desktop line
This must be yet another covert operation by the Apple Special Forces over at Cupertino. This one caught me by surprise. Apparently while we were not looking Apple upgrades its Mac desktop line earlier this week.
The long awaited upgrade to Mac Mini has finally arrive. I almost thought that Apple had abandon this cute Mac model all together. Now with internal specs almost as the MacBook, with new NVIDIA GeForce 9400M and 2.0Ghz or 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor.
This it the time to get a new Mac Mini if you are thinking of getting one. This would make a great living room computer, connect it with a big screen it could become a great Media Center machine.
The Mac mini is available now from your favourite local resellers or the Apple Online Store from RM2,299.00
The iMac, Apple’s all-in-one desktop solution also gets an upgrade. A 20-inch model which features a 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB memory upgradeable to 8GB, 320GB hard drive, 8x double-layer SuperDrive and NVIDIA GeForce 9400M video card with 256MB of shared DDR3 memory.
There are also the high-end 24-inch model range, three of them all together, a 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.93GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. An option between 640GB hard drive or 1TB Hard drive.
The two of the higher-end 24-inch models comes with either NVIDIA GeForce GT120 with 256MB of GDDR3 memory or NVIDIA GeForce GT130 with 512MB of GDDR3 memory. With these spec, the iMac could become a desktop workstation powerhouse.

Talking about powerhouse, the Mac Pro also receive the same upgrade treatment. You might not have notice any differences from the outside, but internally it is a whole other story. Looks like Apple totally re-engineered the internals for easy access and expansion.
The most notable upgrade is of cause its new Quad-Core Intel Xeon “Nehalem” processor, Intel’s latest breakthrough, and I think that Apple Mac Pro is the first commercially available machine that has this latest Intel chip.
You could have your Mac Pro to be configured with two Quad-Core chips and that is like having 8 cores.
The monster Mac Pro is available now from RM9,299.00
So if the Mac Mini is a good fun family car, the iMac is a nifty sports car then these new Mac Pro is in the class of super cars! I’m talking about Ferrari Enzo, Mclaren F1 o r Bugatti Veyron here. In other words it’s something I can’t afford.

Shared memory for the entry level…but due to the iMac support up to 8GB of memory, it should be no problem… max up the RAM, then you can have the fullest from the Nvidia 9400M..
I’m using the late 2008 20″ iMac.. would love to get the mac mini…
Just curious guys, would you buy a new Mac in our ‘soft economy’ right now? Wonder how much sales Apple will lose in this next few months.
Most of Apple customer are very loyal to the company. Majority of apple user are from professional. So, most likely the sale of apple product will not decrease so much (I M O ).
I might have ordered the new Mac Pro and sell my current one if not because of the economy
So yeah, it does affect some ppl.
