Malaysia’s largest Apple reseller chain, Switch a.k.a. CG Computers, is doing its bit for the environment.

The premium reseller announced on its website that it would be getting rid of plastic bags in its stores and using only paper bags. They also share some tips on how you can recycle its printed paper bags. CG Computers is also offering a RM5 reusable cloth shopping bag.

While paper bags are not uncommon at other Apple resellers, I personally find it heartening that CG Computers is making a public commitment to becoming more environmental conscious.

“We have always emphasized on reducing our carbon footprint. We do not have any spotlights in any of our outlets, all our light bulbs are energy saving. We have plenty of digital timers in our office. Servers are switched off automatically at nights, switch on just before the first person step into the office,” CG Computers CEO Li Chau Ging said.

No doubt this moves follows Apple’s environmental initiative, so it’s great that Apple as a corporate citizen is influencing not only the industry, but also its resellers worldwide. Well done Apple and CG Computers!
