So what is new after Let’s Rock special events

Apple’s little special event, code name “Let’s Rock” is now over. After lurking in IRC chat rooms, watching twitter updates and refreshing Engadget a couple of hundreds time, here’s a rough report of what when on.
First of all, from the pictures Steve looks healthy and fine. He open his keynote by clarifying “The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated.” He is referring to the media blunder done by Bloomberg.

First off, is the brand new iTunes 8.0. The main feature that Steve keeps on stressing is the Genius sidebar. It suggests to you which songs goes best with each other. It also suggest new songs that you might like. Basically Steve wants you to never think about music ever again and just let iTunes do all the thinking.
There are HD movies and more content on iTunes store. However, I don’t see this feature available to the Malaysian iTunes store.
On the hardware side, the iPod classic still remains the same with the 120GB model selling at USD$349. It is a ‘classic’ after all.

Steve shows the new iPod Nano. It look just like the leak photos that Kevin Rose posted. When look in several different angle, it is really slick looking. The thinnest iPod ever.
The iPod Nano has accelerometer, just like the iPhone and iPod Touch. When you turn it sideways, the UI changes. Since it has the accelerometer you can now ‘shake’ the iPod Nano to shuffle your song. Cute, but I think this has been done before on one of the Sony Ericsson phones.
Nano comes with a rainbow of bright colors. Fun!
Next up is the iPod Touch. New hardware makes it thinner. Integrated volume on the side. ‘Buttons’ on the Touch? Oh no! It also has build in speaker.

They demoed a lot of gaming on it. Steve made a statement, “It’s the best portable device for playing games…”. Dear Sony and Nintendo as much as I love you guys with your PSP and DS, but I think you guys better watch your back.
Apple has not updated their website yet. That is all, this is just a rough report from me, it’s 2:30 a.m. here. I need to sleep.
We will have a full in-depth report and most importantly, a report on when all of it will be available in Malaysia. Jibone signing out.
