White is back!
When the iPod Classic was revealed a few months back, I was chatting with blogjunkie about the colour and material of Apple products.
Apple has been using white as their main colour in all their products, since the iconic iPod in 2001, heck, even their now infamous iPod headphones were a big hit when it first released, which sparked a slew of advertisment campaigns for the iPod. White was the in thing back then for Apple and everything that was in white was associated with Apple. In fact, I think the other notebook manufacturers started to introduce more colours because of Apple’s funky colour sheme.
Then I noticed that Apple has been shifting towards aluminum and glass and also black for their products They even dropped white from the iMac line. When the iPod Classic was revealed, they dropped white and opted for black and brushed aluminum. White was the colour first used on iPods and they just dropped it like that. The only product that is still white (not counting the accessories) is the MacBook.
The iPhone 3G introduction a few days ago brought white back to Apple and I must say that white is way cooler than the black version. So Jonathan Ives or even Steve Jobs, if you are reading this, please bring more white to Apple. It’s the iconic colour for Apple and it’s still the best colour on your products.
