Things to get things done
Mac people got a thing for GTD apps, there are tons of these so called ‘Getting Things Done’ app on the Mac platform. We have talked about some of them here on MyMacBUZZ in the past, Actiontastic is one.
For the past few weeks however, I’ve been using the alpha release of Things, a ‘task management’ apps by Culture Code. Even thought it is an alpha product, and not all features are finalize, I’m already loving it.

Those guys over at Culture Code did a good job at creating a simple, beautiful and functional GTD app. The layout is just right. If you familiar with GTD concepts, Things have all the necessary elements without all the complication.
On the sidebar there are three main section, collect, focus and organize. Collect is where your inbox is. All items and to-dos goes here first. Then you process your item on your inbox to either organize it in projects or put it to focus, where you can put items to do today, someday or postpone it to a later date.
Adding items also is a simple process. There are only 4 fields to an item, name, tags, notes and a due date or a reminder. With tags you can create some interesting ways to view and organize your to-do items.
Things still lacks in integration to iCal or Google Calendar, I’m not sure if the final version will include such capabilities.
However Things still is not the ultimate ‘Getting Thing Done’ app there is. It shares the same flaw as other GTD software out there. Things, like all the other GTD apps doesn’t actually get things done for you. It helps you keep track of things you hav to to and that is about it. Until there is a GTD app that cooks you dinner, do your laundry, pay your bills, type a blog post, and do your laundry, it is still not the ultimate GTD app.
Anyway, keep an eye for Things or sign up to get a private alpha preview. Thing won’t be free once it is release.
p/s: New version of iGTD2 are also in the works, and a public beta of OmniFocus is available.
