myMacBUZZ touches the Touch! [Exclusive]
I had the chance to play with the iPod Touch today at with some other media editors at Apple Malaysia’s office today. This was my first encounter with the iPod touch and I must say that I am ditching the third generation iPod Nano to fund for an iPod Touch.
The iPod Touch works just as advertised, with exception to the WiFi iTunes Music store and the Starbucks music service, which obviously isn’t available in Malaysia. YouTube worked but not perfect, mainly because the internet connection wasn’t fast enough to stream videos. (TM Nut…)
I also had a first encounter with the on-screen keyboard. I’ve never used an iPhone before so this was my first time using the keyboard and I was good at it! I typed with both my thumbs the first time I used it and managed to type what I wanted. Great job there Steve!
Well less talking and more pictures: (Please pardon my photography skills, it’s not easy to hold a big camera in one hand and an iPod Touch in another hand)

Slim beauty
YouTube on the Touch - Took very long to load, internet connection is too slow to stream videos

One last pic. I googled around and found nothing on this. So this is a myMacBUZZ exclusive. iPod Touch Simplified Chinese home menu. The touch has settings for other languages as well.

Owh cool! So how much is it going to cost? And when will it be available?
Apple Malaysia don’t have the pricings yet or maybe they just can’re reveal it yet.
Availability will be end of September or early October. The iPod Touch will start shipping from the US next week to the rest of the world.
So yeah, we will be getting it soon!
We believe you can get an unlock iPhone somewhere in Malaysia.
so nice…you get to touch it… :O
Did you notice the “dark video” problem when playing back videos with the touch that’s widely reported on the net? This is where video playback is too dark when compared to the iPhone.
I’ve played a dark background music video using the iPod Touch. It was ok to my eyes but the sharp-eyed people I showed it to said that the “inverted black” problem is on the Touch that I was playing.
I’ve asked the Apple Malaysia people, (acutally the guy is from Apple Hong Kong), and he assured that the batches being shipped to Asia will not suffer from the inverted black issue.
All we have to do is wait. You can never take word from the PR people of any company, not even Apple.
I have read that all iPod touch have the inverted black problem. Sounds kinda disappointing. I hope Apple can fix that soon!
OMG, it seems like it has the shimmering black screen problem.
Wow, for the 1st time in my life as a Mac user, i want an iPod so badly i hardly can sleep at night! I hope it will b available b4 raya so i can skip all the boring shows on tv and play around with the Touch.. still, a lot n a lot more ppl said i should get the Classic instead…mmm…choices choices… do u have to tilt it to get an ok view? like the screen of the 17inch iMacs whwre u have to angle it to get a good balance of color n contrast.
