iPhone news roundup

Although the iPhone isn’t available here in our part of the world, there are lots of iPhone fanboys though (and I just happen to be one of them). Here’s some iPhone news that caught my eye over the weekend.

According to Apple’s Q3 financial results announced last Wednesday, Apple sold a whopping 270,000 iPhones in the first 30 hours it went on sale. Despite this phenomenal performance, Apple’s stock actually dipped because some analysts had said that “iPhone sales disappoints”. 270,000 units in 2 days - that must be like some world record or something and they could say that sales were disappointing. Anyway, you can check out the QuickTime of the Q3 results announcement here.

More interestingly, hackers have managed to build a simple ‘Hello World’ application for the iPhone, despite the lack of a published API and SDK. They’ve just released the source of the application which you can find links to on the iPhone Dev Wiki. Hats off to the l337 h4×0rs.

Pimp your iPhone on myMacBUZZ!

Just because the iPhone is unavailable outside the US doesn’t stop highly-motivated fanboys to get their hands on it. I know because at least one contact in my Facebook has posted pictures of his iPhone. If you’re from Asia and you’re lucky enough to be the proud owner of an iPhone, take a picture and send it in to buzz[at]mymacbuzz.com. Make sure to tell us how you got it and what you’re using it for and we’ll be happy to help you pimp your iPhone and make all of us jealous.
