After the great launch of FCS 2 at NAB, in Las Vegas and meeting with other trainers from all over the world, we talked and queried about the updates on our guidebooks for our future classes. We were told that the books will be shipped to us (trainers), the same day FCS 2 shipped.

Yesterday, my new textbook has arrived!

“Final Cut Pro 6″ - Professional Editing in Final Cut Studio 2, written by Diana Weynand and published by PeachPit Press, has been the guidebook for trainees, taking the Apple End-User Certifications or a more “hands-on approach” to using the application. (I don’t read manuals too!)

Among other things that have gone through changes from the past version in the book are the “Course Structure”. The book now uses the “film editing terminology”, instead of just plain old ‘techie’ words - a great way to start your career in the “reel” world.

The new course structure are broken down into 5 parts namely: - Creating a Rough Cut (Lessons 1-3) - Refining the Rough Cut (Lessons 4-6) - Supporting the Process (Lessons 7-8) - Completing the Cut (Lessons 9-11) - Adding Effects and Finishing the Cut (Lessons 12-14)

Some new topics covered are: - Using Master Templates from Motion into FCP 6 - Monitoring Surround Sound in FCP 6 - Intergration with Motion 3 and SoundtrackPro 2

New footages that are included in the DVD-ROM for the tutorials are: Documentary - “The Making of ‘Believe” (SeaWorld Inc. & Busch Entertainment) TV Series - “The Monk” (NBC) Interstitials - “Living Color: Yellow” (BBC) Branded Content - “Commercials” (coreaudiovisual)

But again, without the FCS 2 applications, the DVD-ROM included with this book will be of no use until you get your hands on FCS 2, then you might consider to get this book and start editing like a pro!
