Review: Vakaadoo iVak N-type case for iPod nano 2G

The iVak N-type 2 is a case for the second-generation (2G) iPod nano that is well-thought out and looks great. I’ve had the privilege of testing one out for the past 2 weeks and have to say that it’s one of the best iPod cases I’ve ever seen.

The iVak is manufactured by out of London. The thing that I like about it the most is its clever interlocking ‘jigsaw’ design. The case fits so snugly around your iPod that it stays firmly in position just by hugging your iPod’s edges. At the same time, the case leaves the iPod’s top and bottom clear for its dock connector and earphone jack. The case also has a clear panel for your iPod screen and comes with a protective film for the click wheel.

You gotta love that design that just blends into your iPod nano’s shape. The iVak also doesn’t add much bulk to the iPod and that’s a big plus point for me. And as you can see from the pictures, it’s a great way to ‘change colours’ of your iPod. Available in 7 different colours, you could have a different colour iPod every day of the week!

The other thing I really like about it is Vakaadoo’s easy grip liquid rubber coating. The liquid polymer coating coats the high-quality plastic shell and provides a non-slip surface that is also scratch resistant. I didn’t test the extent of its scratch resistance but this Playlist Mag review said it stood up to the test. I also really like the feel of the coating and found myself just holding my iPod and stroking the case’s surface. Yeah, I know—I’m weird :P

One thing to note for those of you who owns an iPod nano dock: You can’t dock the iPod with the case on. However, none of my friends with iPods own a dock, so I guess it’s not a really big issue.

Overall, I highly recommend the iVak N-type 2 case for iPod nano owners. It’s also great value with all the bundled accessories and is a great alternative to gel/rubber skins. I raise my hat to Vakaadoo for a great iPod case.

Malaysian iPod owners who want to get their hands on the iVak N-type case should be able to find them at machines in Mid Valley, or online through Vakaadoo’s newly re-designed website. Do check out the website—they’ve got some special offers on at the moment.

Alternatively, we could do a mass order through their regional distributor and enjoy a special price (depends on the number we order). If you’d like to order an iVak case, please send an email to buzz[at]mymacbuzz.com telling me how many cases you want and what colour you want them in.
