myMacBUZZ endorsement of BackityMac
A few weeks ago I reviewed BackityMac, a simple, one-click backup utility that I really liked. Following the review I contacted DJ Macintosh, the developer of BackityMac and we’ve been working behind the scenes on a collaboration. Today I’d like to announce that myMacBUZZ will be officially endorsing BackityMac as our preferred backup solution.
Part of the appeal of Macs are its many applications. Unlike many Windows programmes that tend to focus on features, Mac applications are designed to be elegant, simple yet powerful, and to “just work”. Many of these Mac applications like Adium, Quicksilver, AppZapper, Transmission, Camino, Delicious Library and many more are also developed by independent software developers like DJ.
Writing software independently is hard work for these developers. A lot of times it’s a labour of love too because sales their software doesn’t generate enough income to warrant concentrating on developing software full time. Here’s where I’m hoping to help out DJ with BackityMac.
myMacBUZZ’s goal is to help raise awareness of BackityMac so that more Mac users will try it and eventually buy it. The more of us that use it, the more the app will be improved and the more bugs will be squashed. It’s a community effort on our part to help DJ build up his app so that it becomes successful for him and so that we have a reliable, easy-to-use solution to solve our backup problems.
To DJ, I’m really glad that you’re on board and I hope that this endorsement will really benefit you. To myMacBUZZ readers out there, go backup your Mac with BackityMac. And then email DJ to tell him what you like about the app and how he can improve. Then you’ll enjoy that nice, warm fuzzy feeling you got from helping out independent software developers.
Cheers!
