That new software smell is in the air
Apple’s Design Awards’ deadline just ended a couple of hours ago and we’re flooded with dozens of announcements of new Mac applications. Here are some that caught my eye:

Coda 1.0 is Panic’s new “one window web development” tool which incorporates a text editor, a WebKit-based preview, a CSS editor with visual tools, a full-featured terminal, built-in reference material, and much more. Check out Steven Frank’s blog for more details. Coda costs USD79 for a limited time and requires OSX 10.4+.
-
CSSEdit 2.5 – for those of you who prefer applications that does only one job but does it exceedingly well, CSSEdit 2 is for you. Yeah.. I know, another web development too. I’m a web geek, what can I say? Costs USD29.95, requires OSX 10.4+.
-
Fission 1.5 is Rogue Amoeba’s “streamlined audio editor”. It looks great, is simple to use and is a great alternative to GarageBand. Fission costs USD32 and works with OSX 10.4+.
-
Shiira 2.0 has been released with a new interface and new features. Shiira is a Webkit-based browser that’s got some pretty sweet features like Tab Expose. It’s open source and is free to download and requires OSX 10.4+. (P.S. I’m not sure if its eligible for the Design Awards if its an open source app.)
-
iStat Pro 4.0.1 is a free Dashboard widget from iSlayer. It’s basically a system monitor on steroids. Lots of great features and a simple to use UI.
-
Defcon 1.4 is a strategy wargame from Ambrosia Software which sees you playing the role of a General with the goal of killing all your enemies before you get killed. I like simple games
) Features single player campaigns and multiplayer against other users, even those with Windows boxes. Costs USD25 and requires OSX 10.3.9+.
Phew! What a roundup. Have fun checking all these out.

Coda looks good, I don’t know if I would ever leave Textmate since I’ve just started to get comfy with it. But I like the idea of having all, terminal and webkit preview in one app.
