Bill Gates Not Amused By Hodgman’s PC Character
Bob Garfield a columnist for Advertising Age had an interviewed Bill Gates. The interview mostly are about the current and future state on IP TV. The interesting part however is when Garfield asked Bill Gates about John Hodgman the actor who plays PC for the Get a Mac ads. Apparently Bill Gates is not amused by those ads at all.
GARFIELD: I want to ask you one more thing: Those Mac ads — how do you feel about the John Hodgman character? GATES: I can’t comment on someone else’s ad. GARFIELD: OK … but he’s you. GATES: Yeah, I’m not gonna comment on someone else’s ad. GARFIELD: OK, well, Bill Gates, thank you so much for joining us. (Silence) GARFIELD: Can I just have a clean goodbye? (Silence) (sounds like Bill Gates is leaving) GARFIELD: OK, can you just say goodbye? Thank you or goodbye or something like that? GATES: Goodbye.

i think that you shouldn’t be so bias about interviews pertaining to things other than Apple (Mac). it’s just very unfair that you let your Mac fetish cloud your blogging. you might not understand IP tv and such but remember, Bill Gates did bring a whole new revolution to the usage of computers, primarily PCs. i am a big Mac fan as well but it just irritates me to have Mac Fan Boys crowding the blogosphere.
That’s not a very good interviewer, making premature assumptions that the PC character is Bill.
In fact, I think PC Guy is a multitude of all in one, a bit of Dell, Bill Gates, Balmer… but it’s not very nice of the interviewer to do what he did, that’s for sure. Btw, I just re-read and realised his name is Garfield (har har)
And macnonymous, what is actually really wrong with this piece of new, along with other MyMacBuzz news? What BlogJunkie and Bijone blogged about are purely what actually happened, which can also be found in other source as well.
You don’t see them go something like, “Down with PCs” or any other negative blogging. I think MyMacBuzz is a very high quality blog.
macnonymous, I would like to point out that this is a Mac site, so you would have to expect a slight bit of bias. And Ian is right, we don’t say anything outright negative about Windows. Ok, maybe occassionally haha.

Sure the interviewer is an ass for pushing those question out, but the way Bill Gates handles it is not that cool either (not just on this interview but other interview regarding the Get a Mac ads)

Yeah, I get what you mean about Gates - it’s just like he’s a sore loser.
Windows bashing is only there because it’s true and everyone and their grandma is doing it, especially when their PC gets spiked again for the umteenth time just ’cause they forget to update the AV or a friend passes some software with a trojan.
