InstantShot! is a small freeware utility for screen-capturing. New Mac switchers often asked, where is the ‘print screen’ button? No such buttons any on Macs.

Most of the time I just show them Grab, the screen-capture utility that comes with your Mac. Of cause you can also remember the shortcut keyboard command: -

Command + Shift + 3 (full screenshot)

Command + Shift + 4 (Crosshair for selection of screenshot area)

Command + Shift + 4, then spacebar (Camera to capture specific screen)

InstantShot! however does more then Grab or the shortcut keys. First of all it sits on the menu and not the dock. You’ll be able to access it anytime you want to take a screen capture.

Apart form taking the whole screen or the part of the selection on the screen, InstantShot! lets you set a timer that takes a screen capture 5 sec later or whenever you set it to me. There is also an option to take multiple screenshots in a set interval time. Handy for demoing something on your screen.

There is also an option that lets you pick a background color to cover your wallpaper or the entire desktop. Handy feature for taking clean screen capture without showing the mess on your desktop.

InstantShot is a freeware, the developer’s site is at Digital Waters, it’s in some foreign language. I found it at Glennwolsey blog, you can download the latest version at MacUpdate.
