According to MacScoop, they had obtained a report saying that Apple will charge current users of Mac OSX Tiger users for the final version of Boot Camp, which will probably be released at the same time with Mac OSX Leopard.

Boot Camp is one of the feature on Leopard. Tiger user who want to use Boot Camp officially has the option to pay for Boot Camp or upgrade to Leopard.

This might just be a similar case with the issue of Apple charging around USD $1.99 for a software update to enable Macs with 802.11n.

MacScoop also did mention that, Apple is also expected to officially support Microsoft’s Windows Vista operating system with the final version of Boot Camp. Does this mean you can call up Apple tech support if your Windows Vista doesn’t work?

This currently are just rumors, there is no official confirmation from Apple.

  1. The problem here is, a lot of people still basing their buy on the theory that their world revolves around Windows.

One of my sister in KL is tempted to buy one, but she was apprehensive over some of her software doesn’t exist for Mac. So I told her she can run Windows on it for those using Boot Camp, and her immediate reaction was “why would I choose the MacBook then?? I’d just go for the RM2K Windows notebooks!”

So maybe she’ll give Parallels are try, but isn’t willing to fork out extra for the software. Her viewpoint isn’t from another angle, it is still from a Windows perspective of seeing things.

Deal is, going Mac you’re going for best of both worlds, but there is always the thought that it is overkill for some people, even though they want Mac stability.

  2. Hmm, support for Vista probably means Boot Camp will enable (support) the installation of Vista and Vista drivers will be provided etc.. and not support Vista (the operations of the OS) per se.
