Safari Plugins
I love Safari. I use Safari as my main web browser. Not that I have anything against FireFox, just that I find Safari to be less of a browser then FireFox, its simple and I like how WebKit renders stuff, feels faster.
FireFox attractive feature is that it has tons of plugins that could turn the browser into a swiss army knife, but Safari has a few great plugins as well. Most people don’t even know that Safari is ‘plugin-able’ if there is such a word. These three are my favorites: -

Inquisitor
This little plugin turns your little boring search box next on your address bar into a more Spotlight like. It starts searching while you are typing. As you type result will pop up immediately. Very useful if you want to search something quickly.
PicLens
If you like to spend time on photo sharing sites like Flickr, PicLens is perfect. It makes the viewing experience more enjoyable. PicLens delivers an immersive full-screen experience for viewing photos on the web, similar to what you have in iPhoto slideshows only it is for photos and album sets on the web.
Safari Enhancer
While this is not really a plugin but more of a tweaking tool for Safari, I’ll include it on this list as well . Some of the tweaking features are: -
- Enabling the Debug Menu
- Increasing the font size in the bookmarks sidebar
- Disabling Safari’s web content cache
- Forcing the download of all PDF files and Switching between the Brushed
- Aqua and Unified Title/Toolbar application appearances
I only uses these three plugins for my Safari, I try not to get overboard and stuff my Safari with tons of plugins, something which I always end up doing during my days of using FireFox.

I’m assuming it’s for Safari 2?
PicLens and Inquisitor is for Safari 2
Older version for Safari Enhancer will work with Safari 1
Great post J! I’m going to download these plugins right now.
PicLens sounds great. I’m assuming it automatically grabs the hi-res version of the photo. I can’t install it right now on my work computer (stupid admin functions are locked).
It not only works on Flickr, but all the major photo community sites including Photobucket and Google Images. I really need to see how this works with Google Images! crazy.
Safari is nice and all, but the download function is TERRIBLE. I’m a graphic designer and I download lo-res images from stock photo sites like gettyone.com. There’s only two places that Safari lets you download files to: the desktop and the iPhoto Library. Apple needs to get a clue and let users decide where they want to save their downloaded graphics/images.
another must have plugin - forgetmenot (http://www.math.uchicago.edu/~fowler/Software.html), restore your tabs and windows after a quit on safari.
I paid for Saft, a powerful addon for Safari.
There’s only one plugin in my Safari; AcidSearch.
