Steve Jobs’ Keynote on Macworld2007

The keynote just ended a few minutes ago. Even-thought I’m only watching it through an IRC chat room and furious clicking through Flickr photo set (here and here) but it was pretty exciting. Only 2 major thing that Steve did announced.

Apple TV

First of is the iTV, it is called the Apple TV now. The specs are: USB2, Ethernet, WiFi networking support for a,b,g,n, it has an Intel processor and 40GB hard disk. Nothing much new here, the interface is similar to what you have in Front Row

Next Steve starts saying something like; “This is a day I’ve been looking forward to for two and a half years” and introduced to us the new Apple phone, the Apple iPhone. He is calling it an widescreen iPod, Revolutionary Phone and a breakthrough Internet device. It truely is such a device.

Apple iPhone

It took almost the whole 2 hours of the keynote for Steve to just talk about the Apple iPhone. It seems that Steve really like his new phone. I’ll be brief on this post about the phone, more detailed information will be posted soon on myMacBUZZ.

First of, a revolutionary new user interface on it’s touch screen. The idea of using a stylus will sound silly once you see how the interface is. There is no scroll bar when you need to scroll, just move your finger upward or downward. Think of the iPod click wheel but touch screen style. See the demo on Apple’s iPhone site.

There are sensors everywhere. The phone detects if you have it by your ears. So while you are talking the screen will shut off. It also detects which side you are holding the phone and switch the display horizontal or vertical, automatically.

The phone practically runs on OSX may be a mobile version, there will me more info on the OS soon. It also seems that there is a full blown Safari (Webkit) web browser build in to the phone. You can see websites as it is and you can zoom in and out form pages. Check out the demo on Apple’s site site.

Another announcement is that Apple Computer Inc. is now known as Apple Inc. With all the non-computer like devices being introduced, it makes sense for the change.

No information about OSX Leopard, iLife07, iWork07, new Mac Books and such, but then again not everything must be announced by Steve Jobs. Most predictions, other then the iPhone predictions are duds.

More detailed information on everything announced on Macworld soon on myMacBUZZ as right now I need to get some sleep it’s 3:40 a.m here.

  1. Nice roundup Jibone. Thanks for staying up late hehe.

Funny no mention about Leopard eh? Looks like Steve was just so excited about his new phone.

  2. Wow, the phone was beyond my expectations!

  3. Steve basically spend the whole event talking about the phone.

Everybody (at least in the IRC chat room I’m in) was hoping for “one more thing” but it didn’t happened.
