Kevin Rose: iPhone in January

Diggnation episode 74

In Episode 74 of the popular Diggnation podcast, Digg founder Kevin Rose said that the iPhone would be out in January, based on information from a reliable source.

Kevin didn’t want to say much, but after much prodding from co-host Alex Albrecht, he divulged some juicy details anyway (about 38 minutes into the show). “Here’s the deal” on the iPhone:

  • January launch on “all” providers, both CDMA and GSM
  • “It’s going to be small as sh*t
  • Two battery design (with single charger) — one for playing music, the other for phone functions
  • Flash memory: 4GB for $249, 8GB for $449
  • “Slide-out keyboard”
  • Possibly touchscreen

This may sound like just another rumour, but Kevin has been accurate in predicting the MacBook and iPod nano. It seems that his “reliable source” is, well, pretty reliable. I just hope that he doesn’t get fired for sharing details with Kevin.

  1. I’m currently just waiting for the new rumor non-existant yet phone from Apple. I hope it’s not a US regional thing distribution.
