It lives! It lives!

iPod Shuffle reset utility

My iPod shuffle - it lives! Snatched back from the dead by Apple’s just-released iPod shuffle Reset Utility. Oh my dear shuffle, how I’ve missed you!

Ok I’ve calmed down now. Let me explain. My first generation iPod shuffle had been acting weird. Plugging it in wouldn’t mount it. iTunes couldn’t see it. Pressing play caused it’s lights to flicker wildly. And the iPod Updaters couldn’t fix it. So, broken-hearted and thinking that my iPod had kicked the bucket, I thought I would find solace in a new toy, only to fall out of love with it quickly.

Until this morning when Jinny excitedly IM-ed me and pointed me to the iPod shuffle Reset Utility. Checking out the related knowledge base page, it seems that this utility was designed to do just one thing - bring my shuffle back to life.

So the first thing I did when I arrived home 20 minutes ago was to download it and to try it on my iPod shuffle. The rest is history. If your first generation iPod shuffle has been acting weird and flashing green and amber lights, do go download, install and then run the utility. You’ll find it in your /Applications/Utilities folder once installed. (Windows version available from the same download page).

Then, sit back and enjoy your resurrected iPod shuffle. Ahh… life is random once again.

Big thank you to Jinny.
