machines, Malaysia’s largest Apple reseller, will officially launch their Mid Valley store this Saturday, 14 October. In conjunction with the launch they have some sweet opening weekend promotions.

First is their 50% off 5 at 5 deal where lucky customers can get a 50% discount of the 2GB silver iPod nano. The deal is limited to the first 5 units and only begins at 5pm and available on Saturday only. 50% off 5 at 5, geddit, geddit??

I was kind of hoping for deals on their higher capacity iPods (4GB or even the 30GB video iPods) but a 2GB iPod nano at RM349.50 is still a steal (usual price RM699). If you’ve been considering an MP3 player and not sure if an iPod is worth all the fuss then this deal is for you.

The deals that I’m really excited about are machines’ Macbook and iMac deals. Every purchase of a Macbook, Macbook Pro or iMac during the opening weekend (14-16 Oct) will get you a free copy of Parallels worth RM370 or other goodies, including the new iPod shuffles and Crumpler bags. Anyone got RM5k to lend me to buy a Macbook..?

One more thing

And unfortunately it’s bad news. In my last post I mentioned that the launch will be graced by certain local celebrities. Unfortunately, due to unforseen circumstances the VIPs and celebrities will not be able to make it. The good news is that machines says they are still looking to have another party/event hopefully.
