I can’t wait for machines
Mac fans have been curious about the latest Apple reseller that’s about to enter the market - machines (also see previous coverage). myMacBUZZ had the good fortune to sit down with the 2 very friendly directors of machines to find out more about the company and the plans for their store.

The store
The machines outlet at Mid Valley will have the distinction of being the largest authorised Apple reseller in Malaysia. They are renovating the old AppleCentre to make for more space and the store when complete will be a 2,700 sq ft concept store. Think epiCentre@Orchard. Awesome!
There will be plenty of demo units for us to get our grubby hands on - looking forward to that Mac Pro baby! Directors Dylan and Andrew say they will spend RM100,000 on demo units alone. They’ve done a lot of hard work sourcing accessories from all the major brands. There will also be a lounge cum training area where we can hang out or attend trainings. Conclusion: expect a one-stop mecca for everything Apple opening soon.
Talking of opening, machines will open end-September or early-October, depending on renovations and other miscellaneous stuff. It also sounds like there will be an opening party so stay tuned for details. By the way, their website is also coming soon and they’re looking for Apple Champions. Interested?
Fresh Machines Sdn Bhd
Fresh Machines Sdn Bhd is the company that will operate the machines retail store. I’m happy to report that my worry that the owners don’t know how to use Macs are unfounded - Dylan and Andrew are total Mac geeks. Our conversation yesterday frequently side-tracked to Mac news and some nonsense too - Andrew plans to lock himself in the store a few days before opening to geek out with the Mac Pros. Err, can I join in Andrew? I’m glad to see that they are both really passionate about Macs. More than that, they are also experienced businessmen and entrepreneurs so I’m sure machines will do well.
Dylan and Andrew are also really down to earth and readily shared lots of info with me and asked me for my ideas in return. They’re very open to feedback and really want to hear what you want to see in the store. If you’ve got a suggestion, please leave a comment.
Stay tuned for more updates on machines. Like I said, I can’t wait.

Thanks for the scoop. I wish Machines well. There have been earlier well meaning Mac vendors that have sadly failed in the local market. I don’t know what the formula for running a successful Mac retail business in Malaysia is but I hope Machines will find/ found it. We need a vendor to match the passion of Mac users and fans in Malaysia. Good luck all
Sounds great! I agree with Aziz. I hope machines don’t go the same way the Apple Experience Centre (Mac Studio) at Ikano did. Good luck and hope we get invited to the grand opening!
I think all the previous failed ones are in the wrong place.
definitely will drop by once it’s open!
well rm100k is not alot for demo machine, since most top of the line is range around 10k> anyway best wishes good luck, pls hire the right ppl
btw when the opening la?
They said end-September or early-October. Will let you know when I find out for sure.
Or you could subscribe and you would know as soon as I post it.
I hope machines will provide attractive bargains for promotions during their grand opening day. Perhaps huge discounts for iPods or iBook batteries? Price slash for MacBooks? Plus lucky draws for buyers to have a chance to own new MacBook Pro? Who knows, it might and should happen! Go Mac!
